Hello! My name is Ren Ohlmeier and I am a photojournalist and filmmaker. I have always loved photography and the art of taking photo, mostly with animals, nature, and science.
I have worked at the Missouri Photo Workshop for two years, one year as a concierge and one as on the documentary team. Both years I toned the photos for the website, which you can see here: MPW 76 and MPW 77
I was a staff photographer and currently a photo editor for the Columbia Missourian.
At the University of Missouri I am making my short documentary, “Tonti”, about identifying the one unidentified body from the 1971 Tonti Train Derailment in Salem, Illinois.
I was born in Texas, but raised in Denver, Colorado. I found my love of nature and the outdoors through the beauty of Colorado and still love it there to this day. I love hiking, reading, and anything creative. I do nature portraits, documentary film and various editorial work.
